2024 Senior Spotlights
STRATEGY
Each Spring, Student and Campus Life celebrates its graduating seniors through a series of spotlights and features, which are shared through the division’s digital (web/social) platforms. While taking several forms over the years, senior spotlights
are often focused on authentic stories that reflect on seniors’ experiences at Cornell and advice to other students. The goal of these spotlights is to celebrate the graduating class, build excitement in the week leading up to commencement,
educate our broader audience of the transformative impact of the division’s work and mission; and inspire the next generation of Cornellians.
To accomplish that goal, we produced six Student spotlights, which were a mix of interview footage, b-roll and user-provided media assets (photos/videos). Each video centered a student story on at least one of Student and Campus Life’s five core values:
· Community & Belonging
· Spirit & Pride
· Engagement
· Leadership/Interpersonal Growth
· Transformation
On the evening prior to commencement, we released one final video montage of student photos set to music and accompanying animated text to celebrate their accomplishments.
The seven Instagram reels tallied over 330K views, averaging nearly 48K views. The posts also generated over 7,000 interactions during commencement week and recorded a 5.3% engagement rate, surpassing the channel’s previous benchmarks of 10,000 views and a 2.6% engagement rate.
